On Wednesday it was officially announced by Richard Childress Racing that Austin Dillon will drive the iconic #3 in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starting with the 2014 Daytona 500.
During Wednesday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series test session at Charlotte Motor Speedway Richard Childress Racing made an announcement regarding plans for the 2014 season. In the announcement Richard Childress Racing officially announced that Austin Dillon, the 2013 NASCAR Nationwide Series Champion, would be bringing back the iconic #3 with him as he moves from the Nationwide Series to the Cup Series in 2014.
This announcement confirms the highly speculated rumors regarding Dillon running the #3 in the Cup Series. The #3, which was driven in the Cup Series by the late Dale Earnhardt, has not been entered in a Cup Series race since Earnhardt passed away after being involved in a last lap wreck in the 2001 Daytona 500.
Richard Childress Racing also announced that both DOW (DOW Chemical Company) and Cheerios will be primary sponsors on Austin Dillon’s #3 Chevrolet SS in 2014.
James Finch announced Monday that he plans to enter a car into the 2014 Dayton 500 in February.
On Monday night James Finch, the ex-owner of Phoenix Racing, announced on SiriusXM’s NASCAR Radio show The Late Shift that he plans to enter a car into the 2014 Daytona 500. Finch said he had talked with Harry Scott Jr., the new owner of Phoenix Racing, and will be using a car from that team.
James Finch announced the sale of Phoenix Racing to Harry Scott Jr. in August, 2013. The actual change of ownership from James Finch to the new owner Harry Scott Jr. took place in September.
A driver or car number for Finch’s planned car for the 2014 Daytona 500 has yet to have been announced.
Danica Patrick will co-host the American Country Awards tonight at 8pm EST on FOX.
Patrick will join multi-platinum recording artist Trace Adkins in hosting the American Country Awards Tuesday night. The American Country Awards will run live from 8pm to 10pm EST on FOX.
Danica Patrick’s co-hosting of the ACA’s will come just under a month after the 31-year old driver finished her first full NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. During her rookie season Danica Patrick managed to finish 27th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series point standings.
NASCAR has postponed Monday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series test at Charlotte Motor Speedway for Wednesday.
Due to incorporative weather NASCAR was forced to postpone Monday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series test session at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The test session will be reschedule for Wednesday, December 11th at 9am through 5pm EST.
It is expected that over 20 cars will participate in Wednesday’s test session. NASCAR will use Wednesday’s session to test different changes to the Gen-6 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car, including aerodynamic and chassis changes.
On Wednesday it was announced by Phil Parsons Racing that Josh Wise will race for the team in the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season.
Josh Wise will join Phil Parsons Racing in 2014 to compete in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Along with signing Josh Wise to driver, Phil Parsons Racing will be switching their manufacturer from Toyota to Chevrolet.
At Phil Parsons Racing Josh Wise will replace Michael McDowell, driving the #98 Chevrolet SS.
Michael McDowell, who raced for Phil Parsons Racing in 2013, will be racing for Leavine Family Racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starting in the 2014 season. (Read more here)
